37 years agone today, America landed the Apollo eleven lunar module upon Earth’s moon. For those of us ancient plenty to remember this outcome we have that daytime permanently etched in our memories. On that appointment I was an almost eleven year ancient kid taking a summertime clarinet grade — we disturbed our squeakings & honkings to see the events unfold on a pitch-black & lily-white TV as they happened.

So, wherefore am I telling all of this? Am I attempting to mark the occasion for numerous reason? Well, yes & no. Truly, in the line of human history man’s landing on the moon was a huge event. Talk about going wherever no man had gone before! Yet, I as well understand that the vast count of folks alive nowadays have no recollection of the event. Figure that anyone below the old of 42 or 43 remembers none about the premier moon landing. Subsequent landings perhaps, but perhaps not the premier one in 1969. Furthermore, we have not been back to the moon in over thirty years. How numerous folks alive nowadays only recognize about these events thru the history books?

Okay, I am no longer youthful but I have not rather hit the jurassic epoch either. Still, when composeing about events of long agone there is one thing that I must remind myself of regularly: do not assume that folks recognize what you are speaking about. This is true for whatever types of writings you do: spell out acronyms, expound your thoughts, & make it crystal understandable to your subscribers what you are conveying. Your readership might be a lot younger, practically less informed, or plainly unable to grab what you are attempting to say.
